Data will keep track of your data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis, and let you review that data to see how you’re doing. It also offers personalized recommendations for how you can save more.
Plus there’s a Data Saver mode, which will block apps from using data in the background and track how much data you’re using in each of your apps in real time. Sengupta said the Data Saver feature is “like a speedometer for your data.” If you notice one app using a ton of data, you can block it with one tap.
On top of that, the app will let you know when you’re near a public Wi-Fi hotspot, and help you connect to save even more data. When you’re done using that network, you can rate it to help other users.
Google has been testing Datally in the Philippines for a few months and found that it can help people save up to 30 percent of their data, Sengupta wrote. Now, the app is available globally in the Play Store for all phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and higher.
